The On Course Foundation has a board of four directors, all of whom serve as trustees of the charity.

Founder and Trustee

In 1978, John Simpson joined International Management Group (IMG), the largest sports marketing, entertainment and media company in the world for the past 30 years. As Senior Vice President, John managed elite sportsmen such as Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer, Greg Norman, Vijay Singh and Lord Sebastian Coe. In 1997 John left IMG and founded John Simpson Associates (JSA) specialising in creating and managing international events, licensing and brand development, golf course development and client management.



neil colesNeil Coles

Neil Coles played on the European tour for 37 years, achieving 29 victories. A regular member of the Ryder Cup Teams between 1961 and 1977 , Neil made eight appearances in total. From the age of 50 he dominated the PGA Seniors Championship, winning 14 events to date. At the age of 67,  Neil became the oldest player in Europe to win an event, and also the only player in the world to have won in six separate decades. Neil was chairman of the European Tour Board of Directors since its inception in the 1980s until 2013.

Educated at Daniel Stewart’s College Edinburgh, Tom completed a student engineering apprenticeship at Rolls-Royce Car Division before spending a total of 19 years with the marque at home and overseas. In 1985 he joined the BMW Group, as Sales Director in Britain and became Managing Director four years later. After a period at Rover Group he took responsibility for BMW Group’s commercial operations in the USA and the Americas, before retiring from the position of CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Goodwood (a BMW Company) in Spring 2010.



tony bigginsTony Biggins

Tony Biggins  is a former Managing Director of merchant bank Singer & Friedlander.  He has been a member of Sunningdale Golf Club since 1972, was Captain of the Club in 1997/8 and ran the juniors (12-18) for 15 years.  Tony is also a member of the Duke of York Sports Foundation Advisory Board.




Ian JohnsonIan Johnson

Ian joined the executive search firm Norman Broadbent in 1998, becoming Managing Director of Norman Broadbent International in 2004; he joined the Board Practice three years later. Previously he worked for The Thomson Corporation (1995 – 1998) as Director of ITP Sales. At Reed International (1983 – 1995) he was a divisional Managing Director, having started in corporate services. His earlier career included time with Blue Circle and in academic book publishing.  Ian has a degree and PhD from Manchester University.
